If you are looking for fresh fruit and vegetables close to Plano/Allen/Frisco/McKinney, look no further! My husband and I set off to the "country" today in search of a fresh produce stand. After traveling through Parker and Lucas we came upon a small country vegetable stand on the side of the road in East McKinney. This vegetable stand was something that you would see out of a movie. It was owned by the farmer "Willie" who owns the adjoining 11 acre farm. They sell fresh tomatoes, cantaloupe, the world's largest green onions, sweet potatoes, new potatoes, baking potatoes, zucchini, squash, onions you name it! All of the produce was extremely fresh and I have never smelt such sweet smelling cantaloupe.
Not only do they sell fresh produce, they also sell potted herbs. I was able to get a 2 ft. tall rosemary bush for $8.00. Willie's market also has canned products such as candied jalapeƱos, pumpkin butter, fresh fruit preserves and local honey. We plan on making this be a weekly staple. Not is it a beautiful scenic drive, but the produce is worth the 20 minute drive out of town. When we visit next, I will be sure to post a picture of this great local farmers market. Support our local farmers and give Willie's market a visit!
If you want to visit Willie's here are my awful directions :)
From Highway 75, exit Stacey and take a right.
Follow Stacey all the way until you pass Heritage Ranch community and golf course.
Then you will take a right on Old Stacey Rd and follow this until it becomes Orr Rd.
If you continue to go straight and yield right, you will see Willie's Farmers Market on your left hand side. Below is the address of the "area" in which it was, there is no specific address. Sorry about that, I hope to add more info the next time I visit!
3130 County Road 324
